Grateful that you’re proclaimed
As the foremost hero of Philippines.


Many wish to be like you
Who devotedly love our patria
You willingly sacrificed your life
To awaken the minds of the people
Of your oppressed country
Your leadership was great;
You lead us to eternity.


Despite of your sufferings
You never gave up
In your fineness exquisite spirit,
The nobility of your quixotic heart
The sentiment and aspiration
Of our nation who suffers you stand.


O, Rizal, how great you are
No other Filipino could surpass
The degree of learning of yours
Is the same as those great men;
Like Descartes on philosophy
And Reclus in geography
You’re such a blessed son
Of our motherland.

Your Noli Mi Tangere
Had made you immortal
Like Cervantes on his Don Quixote.


It is nice to hear
From the tongue of the foreigners
Those praises of your greatness
As Blumentritt had said
Your appearance in the world
Was like a rare comet,
Whose brilliance appears only
Every other century.


The patriotic deed of yours
We’ll glorify forever
Your sufferings shall always remember
In our hearts your memory
Will remain eternally
We shall follow your footsteps
To protect our country
Against the tyranny.
